P2YL | 37. Interview with a journalist: My 'second chance at love'

My midlife route from devastated divorcée to happily remarried
Last year a lovely journalist called Kate Chapman featured the story of how Tim and I met, in a woman’s magazine article called ‘Second chance at love.’
Now a ‘Highlighted feature’ on my online Journalism page
I was unable to share the full article with my readers at the time but the magazine has now kindly given permission, if you click on the image below.
What I learnt en route from quietly devastated divorcée to happily remarried
Reading the interview now, with the perspective of time, this is what strikes me:
- I doubted my chances of being happily coupled-up again but somehow I stepped out with a little bit of faith and a little bit of determination.
- I knew I’d up my chances if I pushed myself to be a bit more sociable though at heart I tend to be both shy and lazy.
- Learning to feel comfortable around men again was just practice. Good quality dating-sites and Meetup Groups proved helpful for getting used to meeting new people and learning to feel friendly and calm while doing so.
- Patience pays off. Instinctively I knew it might take time. It took nearly 10 years to meet my husband Tim, to whom I’m now been married nearly as long. But through it all, though I sometimes felt I was back at Square One, I trusted I was heading in the right direction.
I wonder if you’ve had similar experiences, or what point you are at in your relationship life?

This time last year I wrote Six good things about bad Christmases and it struck a chord with many people. So I've flagged it and linked to it again and that's got me thinking about the whole cult of New Year's Eve which I know can hang over us if we're feeling a bit sub-optimal, like a child knowing a dental appointment is coming up.
